		<description>Yes, in a strange twist, many of us were shocked, but not surprised or naive enough to think this wouldn&#039;t happen at WETA once the political forces got underway. 

Going classical is certainly the easiest course of action for WETA -- the vision of an international news and talk station that Maxie and Dan had articulated is far more difficult to pull off, but also far more innovative. This is a loss for innovation.</description>

One caveat that I think needs mentioning is that the core values citation you mention above is from the CV study of the classical-only stations. What also needs to be mentioned is that there was another CV study with a classical-news mix. Although the new WETA is seemingly an all-classical station, it does drop in NPR news updates and the News Hour. If I&#039;m not mistaken, the CV study that you cited earlier was the one that deemed even NPR news updates as (to paraphrase) - &quot;clutter&quot;. Just an observation, it does NOT take away from your assesment (IMHO).</description>
