Poking around some domains it turns out PRI bought mypublicradio.com back in 1999 and their crosstown rival Minnesota Public Radio bought yourpublicradio.com in 2000.

We went to see Matt Haimovitz – phenomenal cellist – at Sanders Theater on Friday night. I last saw him play at TT The Bears during a tour he did of rock clubs around the country.
Thanks to Zach for hooking me up with the Hot Chip CD last Christmas. It’s become my hands-down favorite of the year so far, addictive repetitive listening. This is not typically my kind of music – keyboard-heavy and nerdy vocals. But every now and then something breaks through, like the Postal Service, which just hits in.
Hot Chip creates a totally original sound with perfectly out-of-sync rhythms, vocal hooks, bits of funky guitar, inventive percussion loops, unexpected arrangements, funny lyrics. Lots of stuff to keep you listening but not too much to drive you away.
They happened to be coming through town so Zach bought a couple tickets and we went and saw them at Great Scott in Allston last Monday night, and it was tremendous. Basically five guys with about 10 keyboards lined up on stage, some percussion, and one guitar that they passed between them.
Evidently their drum machine guy was out sick, which was all the more impressive for how they handled the multi-device duties throughout each song. These are not set-and-forget loops or anything – they are playing everything live and singing too.
They only played a few tunes from their debut but the new songs were excellent and the crowd ate them up – tough thing to pull off.
Buy Hot Chip.
